Pierce, Donald “Sonny”

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. A loving father and husband, Donald “Sonny” Pierce died Monday, May 24, 2010, in Baton Rouge. He was 44, a resident and native of Bayou Sorrel and a devoted boat captain. His hobbies were hunting with his son and playing trivia with his daughter. He loved to be on the water. 

Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Thursday, May 27, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, May 28, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Jon Moyers. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Moose Verret, Marshall Henson, Mitch Pellegram, Derek Griffin, Kevin Diamond and Kurt Verret. Honorary pallbearers were Bradley Verret, Blake Verret, Chene Pierce, David Bankston, Derek Griffin Jr. and Marvin "Coo" Pierce.

He survived by his wife, Shelly Pierce; parents, Donald Lee and Carol M. Pierce; daughter, Ashley Pierce; son, Chene Pierce; two sisters, Myrna Pierce Seneca and husband Huey Jr., and Candy Pierce Verret and husband Moose; sister-in-law, Amy and Marshall Henson; brother-in-law, Mitch Pellegram; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emile and Bonnie Mendoza, and Randolph and Victoria Pierce; and mother-in-law, Rita Pellegram.
