Mardi Gras has begun nine days early.

The New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl Sunday night after a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Cots at Sun Life Stadium.

Port Allen native Tracy Porter sealed the win on a 70-yard interception return late in the fourth quarter.  It marked the second consecutive game in which a Porter interception capped a Saints victory. He also picked up an interception late in the fourth quarter two weeks ago in the NFC Championship game against Minnesota.

The game also marked the third Super Bowl win for Brusly native Randall "Blue" Gay.

Drew Brees threw 32 completions to tie a Super Bowl record.
