HAMMOND - New Orleans Saints fullback Jedidiah "Jed" Collins has been appointed as Special Olympics Louisiana Ambassador.

Collins has been volunteering for Special Olympics Louisiana for over a year and as an Ambassador, he is charged with promoting inclusion and respect for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics Louisiana serves more than 13,500 people with intellectual disabilities through various programs year round.

Collins has met with several of the athletes throughout the past year serving as Honorary Coach at state events, participating in several fundraising projects and promoting the R-Word campaign by asking others to join him in eradicating the use of the word "retard."

Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) is a statewide, 501© 3 Non-profit organization, that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities.

SOLA offers year-round programs for 13,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in all 64 parishes with the help of 15,000 volunteers.
