On Saturday, February 18, a Disaster Recovery Resource Fair will be held in Denham Springs, and it is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

The purpose of the event, sponsored by the Louisiana Housing Corporation and the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is to assist all flood victims' needs.

HUD has just today approved the State of Louisiana's Action Plan for Community Development Block Grant, meaning a sum of $437,800,000 is on its way for assistance in major storm recovery of 2016.

Homeowners and renters with disaster issues will find assistance with housing resources, flood insurance, foreclosure prevention, unemployment, title issuance and successions, legal services, disaster tax relief, rebuilding safer and stronger, various types of loans, and much more.

The Disaster Recovery Resource Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the North Park Auditorium, 30372 Eden Church Rd, Denham Springs, 70726. The event is free.

The Fair is a “one-stop-shop” where homeowners and renters can find valuable information and guidance from federal, state, local, and non-profit agencies with a role in disaster recovery.

Participants include the HUD, FEMA, USDA, the State of Louisiana, Louisiana Housing Corporation, City of Denham Springs, Livingston Parish, legal aid organizations, and many others.
