The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development recently announced several area lane closures.

According to a recent release, a single lane closure will take place in the I-10 eastbound outside lane from mile marker 127 to mile marker 130 on the Atchafalaya Bridge in Iberville Parish.  This closure will begin Tuesday, July 11 through Thursday, July 13.

DOTD reports state the closure is necessary for splicing at the following mile markers:

127.2 - 1.5 mile total lane closure from July 11-13 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. nightly.

130.8 - 0.5 mile total lane closure from July 12-13 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. nightly.

The closure is necessary to install new fiber cable into existing Level 3 fiber conduit facilities on the south side of the Atchafalaya Bridge from the beginning of the Iberville Parish mid-bridge along the Atchafalaya Bridge to the end of the bridge through the parish.

DOTD also recently announced that on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16, east and west bound lanes will have a rolling closure from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Monday, July 17, east and west bound landes will have a night closure from 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. between the Port Allen exit 153 and Ramah exit 135.  This closure is necessary for stripping.

Later in the month, US 190 will be closed at the Kansas City Southern railroad track east of the Old Mississippi River bridge from 7 a.m. Saturday, July 22 through 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 23.  This closure is to allow the railroad to replace the tracks and reconstruct at the crossing, according to the DOTD.

No traffic will be allowed through and the detour route is as follows: westbound on 190 traffic will be detoured onto I-110 southbound toward I-10 west.  Eastbound 190 traffic will be detoured onto LA 1 southbound toward I-10 east.  For additional information on this closure, contact Garrett Vaughn with Kansas City Southern railroad at 318-470-4758.
