After the boat parade at the July 4th Hometown Celebration in Plaquemine, the Daughters of the American Revolution, John James Audubon Chapter chairperson Jean Hebert and member Brenda Babin, honored this year’s Grand Marshals by presenting flags in thanks for their service.
“The DAR feels strongly responsible to support and honor our Veterans whenever we have an opportunity,” member Brenda Babin said. “It doesn’t have to be at this wonderful July 4th celebration. Whenever we see a young man or woman in uniform, a soldier, we must offer our support and tell them thank you for your service and sacrifice.
“I feel it’s been a wonderful partnership for the City of Plaquemine and the Daughters of the American Revolution to have been able to honor our Veterans at our July 4th celebration for the last seventeen years. I wait for the phone call every year from Lorraine Hidalgo (coordinator since 2000).
“It is such an honor for the Daughters of the American Revolution to have the opportunity to present flags to our Veterans and Grand Marshals.”
