The finishing touches are being put on the new Plaquemine City Park playground, and it will open for kids’ use on Saturday, Aug. 5. The playground features new, contemporary play areas on a soft rubberized surface, and a covered pavilion for shade while watching children play.
The water spray park, playground, skate park and basketball courts will be open for public use, but other areas of the park will remain closed as work on the $500,000 worth of improvements to the park continues. Other improvements include new restrooms, a concession stand near the ballfields, and an expanded walking trail. The project is expected to be complete by early October.
The hours of the spray park have also been extended. It will remain open through the end of September for use. It is open daily, except for Mondays.
