On August 18, 2017 a bank in White Castle was robbed at gun point.  The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and obtained a description of a vehicle that was seen fleeing the bank.

An intense investigation which included video surveillance from multiple sources, witness interviews, researching records from the Department of Motor Vehicles and auto dealerships led detectives to Robert Ledet, Jr., 20, as a suspect.

A warrant was secured by Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office for Ledet’s arrest for one count of armed robbery.

On August 22, 2017, Ledet was taken into custody by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office without incident.

“Our detectives worked tirelessly on this case, they chased every lead,” Iberville Sheriff Brett Stassi said.  “I am proud of their hard work and dedication not only to this case, but to the citizens of this parish.

“I would like to thank the FBI, Louisiana State Police, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the St. Francisville Police Department and the White Castle Police Department for their help in this case.”

Ledet will be charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted robbery, stemming from a robbery in White Castle, a robbery in St. Francisville and an attempted robbery in Ascension Parish.

This investigation is ongoing as Ledet may be involved in other bank robberies across multiple parishes, according to the IPSO.

“We are happy that we were able to bring this to a close, and are glad no one was hurt during these two robberies and attempted robbery,” added Stassi.
