from Sept. 28 before 18th Judicial District Court Judge Elizabeth Engolio

District Attorney Richard J. “Ricky” Ward Jr. reported the following people were convicted on Sept. 18 in Judge Elizabeth Engolio’s courtroom in the 18th Judicial District:

Evander James, 58240 Meriam St., Plaquemine, La., 70764; DOB: June 28, 1993; convicted of felony theft and was sentenced to three years at the Department of Corrections at hard labor.

Hosey Banks, 23711 Fleniken St., Plaquemine, La, 70764; DOB: Sept. 17, 1974; convicted of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections at hard labor; convicted of simple escape and sentenced to one year in the Department of Corrections at hard labor.

Tilton Gailes, 23760 Bourgeron St., 70764; Plaquemine, La., 70764; DOB: Mar. 18, 1967; convicted of simple burglary and was sentenced to three years at the Department of Corrections at hard labor.

Brandon Hoover, 23366 Iberville St., Plaquemine, La., 70764; DOB: Mar. 18, 1980; convicted of theft of $1,500 or more and was sentenced to one year and six months in the Department of Corrections at hard labor.

Gerald Smith, 2867 General Isaac Smith, Baton Rouge, La., 70807; DOB: Nov. 22, 1985; convicted of battery of a correctional officer and was sentenced to one year in the Department of Corrections at hard labor.

Joshua Foster, 3812 Kings Canyon Dr., Baton Rouge, La., 70814; DOB: Nov. 5, 1997; convicted of theft of $5,000 or more but less than $25,000 and was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections which was suspended and placed on probation for a period of three years.

Kelvin Vicks, 27870 Hwy. 405, Plaquemine, La., 70764; DOB: June 22, 1989; convicted of aggravated second degree battery and was sentenced to three years in the Department of Convictions which was suspended and placed on probation for a period of three years.

Ariel Barker, 58360 Irion St., Plaquemine, La., 70764; DOB: Jan. 20, 1992; convicted of cruelty to juveniles and was sentenced to two years’ probation under Article 893.
