With a state power ranking of No. 2 and a 13-2 overall record, the Eagles are flying high mid-season
With a 13-2 record overall, 4-0 in district play and in the No. 2 spot in the state power ranking and ranked No. 10 in the state by Max Preps, St. John’s Eagles are “on fire,” as one fan described their early season.
“This team is hungry for success,” said Head Coach Jason Kinchen. “They come to work hard at practice and at play and get better every single day.”
The Eagles are deep in batting skill, with three players batting over .400 – Ben Bucher, Collin Barbee and Landon LeBlanc – and two with batting averages over .300 – Justin Rivet and Tre’ Dupont. As a team, St. John is batting .337.
With only two losses so far this season – a 5-0 upending by Ascension Catholic and a 10-4 defeat at the hands of Berwick High – St. John has made itself a team to watch this season already.
“There is a lot of fight in this team and they are starting to realize what they are capable of,” Kinchen said. “They see now that a team is not just one individual that stands out but it is a brotherhood that can lean on one another in tough times.”
