Library visitors voted for the People’s Choice Award which will be announced at the club’s May meeting. Members Weezie Cashat and Janis D’Benedetto hosted the event.

The Gonzales Garden Club presented its annual flower show at the Gonzales library on April 4. Members displayed twelve floral designs reflecting the theme “Through a Child’s Eyes.” Amaryllis blooms dominated the horticultural specimens that also included mock orange (English dogwood), African violet, peace lily, maidenhair fern, pansy, indigo, and iris. The exhibit ended on April 5.

GGC Books and Library Civic Involvement Chairman Janis D’Benedetto presented Library Director Angelle Deshautelles with four copies of The Saved Seed. The book is recommended by the National Garden Club Federation as an “early reader book written to educate elementary children about the life cycle of seed plants.”

The club’s next civic event is a fundraiser. The annual plant and bake sale will take place at Jambalaya Park on April 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
