"It's a class-A deal," co-founder of Bearing Point Properties R. Deane Bryson said. "The buildings are going to have elevator service, which is really some thing that you don't see much in this kind of product."
Sawgrass Point, a new 272-unit apartment complex located at 2163 Veterans Boulevard, just off Interstate 10, in Gonzales has broken ground. The enormous plot ready for development should stir an obvious recognition of greater growth in Gonzales.
Mayor Barney Arceneaux was present, along with representatives from Baton Rouge-based Bearing Point Properties, New Orleans-based Humphreys & Partners Architects and contractor Doster Construction Company of Birmingham.
"It is a great addition," Mayor Arceneaux said. "Sawgrass is going to be something that I think we're all going to be very proud of."
The complex will be a mixture of one, two, and three-bedroom units. These apartments will be first class, with amenities like a swimming pool, a dog park, and a state of the art gym.
"It's a class-A deal," co-founder of Bearing Point Properties R. Deane Bryson said. "The buildings are going to have elevator service, which is really some thing that you don't see much in this kind of product. It will have a great amenity set on site: stand up showers, as well as garden style bathtubs. So it'll offer features similar to a home."
Bryson also mentioned the interstate visibility, right across from the Tanger Outlet Mall.
"The apartment complex is looking great," Arceneaux added. "Today is a wonderful day, of course. We've got sunshine and I think we'll be able to dig some dirt up."
Mayor Arceneaux said that things were initiated about a year ago for the development of Sawgrass Point. In the last few months he said the dirt and piping have been moving in.
"We're real pleased with everything that's gone along so far," Arceneaux said. "You're looking at a very luxurious apartment complex. We're growing. We have so many different projects going on right now. I look at it as all positive. We have people calling from the Baton Rouge area, New Orleans area, near the Texas and Mississippi lines. These people are getting jobs in our area and they need a place to live. So, very happy with that."
Bryson said Sawgrass is aiming for a Spring 2019 opening.
