A black belt in numerous forms of self defense, Harold Guerin, believes the Bible – and the belief of its word – could be an effective way for people to defend themselves.
“The way they’re killing missionaries out in the feel made me feel a strong desire to do a book and get it to Christian organizations overseas,” he said.
That desire led to the publication of “Spiritual Battle Line: Drawn at the Foot of the Cross With the Blood of Jesus Christ.”
“This is a book of Christian testimonies on spiritual combat based on the teachings of the Holy Bible,” Guerin, describes his self-published book as being.
“By praying for other people with different needs, as Christians we show God can work though us,” he said, referring specifically to those battling “demons” like drug addiction and alcoholism. “So we know the Bible works.”
The book contains about 25 testimonials from people who’ve used their knowledge of the Bible and their belief in God and Jesus Christ as a weapon.
“The Bible can eliminate a spiritual enemy,” Guerin said. “If you having problems and you don’t know what to do about it, this is an option, a guide.”
There’s an oft-quoted adage, “the Lord helps those who help themselves,” he continued, “But that’s not true.”
“The Lord will let you keep fighting it by yourself until you cry out for Him” Guerin said.
“God has a mission for everyone,” he said, continuing by saying he believes this book and its objective is at least part of his.
Guerin pointed out he believes that the devil is responsible for all of mankind’s problems and he will do everything he can to prevent people from developing their faith in God.
“The devil knows how to keep people from reading the Bible because he knows that it can be used as a weapon,” he said.
His book teaches an important lesson, documented by the testimonies it contains.
“You’re not supposed to run from the devil – he is supposed to run from you,” Guerin said.
One of the many testimonials, the names of the people who provided them to him, talked about how he used Guerin’s method to prevent a suicide.
“As my wife and I were going over the top of the bridge to Baton Rouge, I saw a woman getting out of car,” he said.
“…I said to my wife, ‘I hope she’s not going to jump,’” he continued. “Then I started thinking that maybe her car had stalled or maybe her car had been struck by the other car that was also .”
“I told my wife I was going to pray for her just in case…(and) I did pray for her,” the unidentified man said, but he found out the worst news in the newspaper the next day.
“I read…that a woman had jumped and that they had recovered her body,” he continued. “Suicide is a deception of Satan.”
Despite the tragic ending, the man said he still believed using Guerin’s theory, he may have been of some comfort to the woman.
As he did for all the testimonials, Guerin added a related scripture. ;
“1 Corinthians 3:16 and 3:17: Know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwell in you. If any man defile the Temple of God, he shall God destroy, for the Temple of God is holy.”
Guerin said he does not expect nor want to make money selling his book. Any monies produced from book sales will go toward printing more copies he intends to send to missionaries in dangerous locales.
