After a scoreless first quarter, the Plaquemine High Green Devils posted 10 points in the second quarter and kept West St. John's Rams off the scoreboard on the way to a convincing 31-6 victory last Friday night.

The Rams' only points came on a Kylan Duhe touchddown in the third quarter, hardly enough to ever have been a threat to the Plaquemine boys.

Melvin McClay dashed 58 yards in a two-play, 69-yard drive in the second quarter to light up the scoreboard the frst time and the dependable Shibain Alheiidari kicked the PAT to give the Green Devils a 7-0 advantage.

Alheiidari would be successfully called upon later in the quarter to add on a 23-yard field goal on the way to a 10-0 lead at halftime for Plaquemine.

The third quarter was golden for the Green Devils, beginning with a Thailan Favroth rushing touchdown from five yards out and again, Alheiidari put the point after between the goalposts to increaase the Devil lead to 17-0.

With time winding down in the third quarter, Green Devil quarterback Trey LeBlanc connected with Dontayvion Wicks for a long-distance 65-yard touchdown pass with just two minutes left in the quarter, capped off by another Alheiidari point after kick.

Adding insult to injury to the Rams, West St. John quarterback D'Andre Gaudia threw an errant pass LeBlanc turned into a pick six to raise the score to its final 31-6.

Plaquemine led on both sides of the offense with 204 yard rushing to West St. John's 137 and through the air, the Green Devils gained 118 yards to the Rams' 81.

The leading ballcarriers in the running game were McClay with 15 carries for 106 yards and Earl Young with 36. The Green Devils spread the ball around, though, and Hebert Thomas, Nicholas Jackson, Dallas Ropati, Favroth, Ja'kolbi Travis and Herman Chirstophe adding to the Devils' rushing total.

Hebert Thomas led Plaquemine High in the passing game, hitting 5 of 10 for 53 yards and LeBlanc only threw once but it was the big 65-yard TD reception to Wicks.

This Friday, the Green Devils will be at home against the Ouachita Parish Lions with a kickoff set for 7 p.m.
