Though the first quarter was scoreless, the Plaquemine High Green Devil offense put its foot on the gas in the second and third quarters on its way to a 31-0 win over Tara High’s Trojans last Thursday night in Baton Rouge.

With the win, the Green Devils improve their overall record to 4-2. Their next game will be at home on Friday against Parkview Baptist. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Plaquemine Green Devils scored 10 unanswered points in the second quarter on an long Earl Long run of 82 yards for a touchdown, followed by a Shibain Alheiidari point after TD, to take the score to 7-0.

Alheiidari would be responsible for the Green Devils’ next score with a 33-yard field goal to bring the score at the end of the first half to 10-0.

After the halftime break, running back Melvin McClay worked his magic on a 20-yard rushing touchdown, punctuated by a Alheiidari PAT. The score improved in the Green Devils’ favor to 17-0.

Later in the third quarter, Hebert Thomas scored with a 1-yard punch through the Trojan defense for another six points and again, another Alheiidari point after to improve the Plaquemine score to 24-0.

Finally, with just over two minutes left in the third quarter, the Green Devils would post their final points on another rushing touchdown, this time by Dontayvion Vicks from 8 yards out, followed by Alheiidari’s final PAT of the night.
