LHSAA playoff brackets were released last night, and all four parish teams have earned a postseason berth.
Plaquemine High claimed their fourth straight 6-4A Championship and finished their regular season with a 25-7 overall record, 9-1 in district play.
The Green Devils received the No. 9 overall seed in the 2016 playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinal round where they fell to St. Thomas More in a one-score thriller, 52-53. The Devils look to go even further this season with the No.6 overall seed in the 4A bracket. They begin their postseason journey this Friday at home against 27-seeded Cecilia.
White Castle Bulldogs finished their regular season with a 21-13 overall record, 10-2 in district play. They finished second overall in 6-1A behind Southern Lab and received the fourth overall seed in the 1A bracket.
WCHS has shown major improvement on both ends of the court this season. Last year, the Bulldogs received the No. 17 overall seed and lost their opening game of the postseason last year to Haynesville.
WCHS will host 29-seeded D’Arbonne Woods Charter.
East Iberville also improved between the 2016 and 2017 seasons after missing the playoffs last season. They finished third overall in 6-1A at 8-4.
EIHS and first year head coach Jason Marks received the number 14 seed and will host 19-seeded Delta Charter this weekend.
Rounding out the Iberville Parish teams in the postseason are the St. John Eagles. They landed the No. 11 seed in the new playoff format and will take on No. 22 St. Edmund at home in the Division IV playoffs.
