Plaquemine High Lady Green Devils split their district matchups last week, but ended with a blowout no-hitter performance over Livonia on Wednesday.

PHS entered last Tuesday’s matchup against St. Michael thirsty for revenge over the loss in the previous week to the 6-4A district leader, but fell 13-3 after five innings.

The Lady Devils held a 2-0 lead through the first two innings and the top of the third before St. Michael racked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.

This seemed to open the floodgates for STM as the home team put up nine runs in the bottom of the fourth before closing out the game in the fifth.

Hope Spencer was the team’s RBI leader with three.  Madison Hebert pitched over three of the innings and racked up 19 first pitch strikes and four strikeouts.

Hebert, Emily Falencki and Jessi Marshall each earned a walk in the loss.

With their eyes now set on a second place finish in District 6-4A, the Plaquemine Lady Devils hit the road to take on rival Livonia High.

Madison Hebert took to the mound and pitched a shutout, 14-0, after five innings of play.

PHS put up one run in the first inning, five in each of the second and third innings and three in the fourth while blanking the home team throughout.

Hebert racked up 11 first pitch strikes and nine strikeouts in the win.

Eltonia Martin was the team’s lead hitter with two.  Caroline Zeringue and Emily Falencki each racked up three RBIs and Claire Blanchard followed with two.

The Lady Green Devils are now 4-2 in district play and will look to finish second overall in 6-4A after they finish out their final two district games of the regular season against Tara and Woodlawn B.R.
