Former standout offensive lineman at Plaquemine High Kevin Dotson is doing great things at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
In May, Dotson was named to the Athlon Sports 2017 All-Sun Belt second team. Dotson earned the starting position at right guard in the second week of the 2016 season, according to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He played in all 13 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns and was named to the Sun Belt All-Newcomer Team.
The summer accolades continued for Dotson recently as he was named the Ultimate Iron Cajun for the University. Dotson was named the offensive line position champion for the Ragin’ Cajuns this summer and is one of 10 athletes to receive a position championship.
Dotson stood out as best-of-the-best, however, after receiving the top summer workout honor of Ultimate Iron Cajun.
“It’s a real honor to win it because I have so many hardworking teammates,” Dotson said. “Winning this makes me feel like I’m on the right track.
“Being at UL has been a real growing experience. I feel like I’ve matured and learned how to manage things better. I also feel like I’ve gained lifelong friends that I can count on in rough times.”
Dotson credits his next-level success to what he learned from his coaches during his career at Plaquemine High. “I’d really like to thank them for setting me up a good foundation to build upon,” Dotson added. “Without them I wouldn’t have the drive I have to be great.”
