OUACHITA RIVER — Bass fishing has been best fishing the mouth of the run-outs with Baby Brush Hogs, spinners and jigs. Crappie are best fishing shiners and jigs in the river lakes. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bass fishing has been fair to good with best fishing being along the channel drops using 11 inch plastic worms and deep diving crank baits. Crappie fishing has been fair with most fish caught out on the flats using shiners. Bream and catfishing is good in the lake but better below the spillway on worms and crickets. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Reports are that catfish are biting on catalpa worms around the lake. Bream are on the beds and lots of fish are being caught on crickets and worms. Crappie fishing has slowed this week while bass are fair on spinner baits and soft plastics. The stripers are beginning to school and hitting white bucktails with white grub trailers along with shad imitations fished in breaking schools. CANEY LAKE —Bass fishing has been best this week fishing the deep creek edges with deep diving crank baits or big plastic worms. Some are starting to school and hitting a variety of shad imitation lures. The crappie have moved deep and shiners seem to be working best fishing around submerged timber. The chinquapins and bluegills are biting quite well around the beds with crickets and worms taking plenty of fish. Catfishing has been fair fishing a variety of baits on trotlines and pool noodles and plastic jugs.
