High water and wind are keeping most anglers off the water.
BLACK BAYOU —Fishing is slow this week. Contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707 for latest information.
OUACHITA RIVER — The water is high. The only areas where crappie are fair is in river lakes only accessible during high water, namely Hamilton, Anderson and Wall lakes. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707.
LAKE D’ARBONNE — The lake is high with lots of current and fresh muddy water which means that all fishing is on the extremely slow side this week. No report on crappie, bass, bream or catfish this week. However, I’m willing to bet if you can get a night crawler or cold worm in the water you can catch channel catfish; they never seem to stop biting. For latest reports, call Anderson’s Sport Center at 368-9669 or Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been quite slow this week. Crappie are just now starting to show up down deep out from the dam as well as below the dam now that water is running over the spillway. A few catfish have been caught on stump hooks. No report on bream or stripers this week. For latest information, call Tim Loftin at Kel’s Cove at 927.2264.
CANEY LAKE — High water and winds have slowed fishing all around the lake. If you can battle the wind, you should be able to catch a combination of crappie, largemouth and yellow bass by bouncing a jigging spoon off the bottom. Hopefully conditions will soon improve because this is the time of year to catch a big bass and load up on crappie down deep. No report this week on catfish or bream. For latest information contact Brown’s Landing at 259.6649, Hooks Marina at 249.2347, Terzia Tackle at 278.4498 or the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707.
LAKE POVERTY POINT — Too much water and windy conditions have slowed fishing down around the lake. No reports this week on bass, crappie or catfish. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
