A high-profile matchup tonight (Oct.1) between two powerful parochial teams from the Baton Rouge area highlights the rundown for Week 5 of prep football action.
St. John entertains perennial Class 2A contender Dunham in action at Andrew Canova Stadium on the campus of Plaquemine High School. Action begins at 7 p.m.
Other action includes Acadiana 3A stronghold Catholic-New Iberia challenging the fledging Plaquemine Green Devils of District 8-3A in a non-district matchup Friday at Andrew Canova Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m., while East Iberville travels to New Roads for a non-district battle against fellow 1A squad False River Academy. White Castle, meanwhile, visits Basile in another non-district contest between 1A schools.
In other area action, Port Allen hosts Baker for homecoming Thursday at Guy Otwell Field, while Brusly travels to Thibodaux on Friday to face E.D. White, ranked ninth in Class 3A.
Donaldsonville, meanwhile, hosts Pointe Coupee Central on Friday, while Ascension Catholic.
Livonia – a new district rival for Plaquemine, Port Allen and Brusly – hosts Jennings of Class 4A.
