Plaquemine High School rebounded from a 60-40 loss to LSWA No. 10 ranked Broadmoor on Tuesday to defeat Istrouma 55-40 on Friday night in District 6-4A play and remain in fourth place in league standings.
The Lady Green Devils (9-15, 5-4), under coach Brannon Dillon, are No. 42 in unofficial power rankings. Plaquemine hosted No. 6 ranked St. Michael the Archangel (23-4, 8-0) on Tuesday before traveling to Belaire (12-9, 6-3) on Friday and hosting Lutcher on Monday to complete the regular season.
The Lady Buccaneers (20-5, 8-2) jumped out to a 24-11 lead and extended it to 43-16 at the half before going into the fourth ahead 51-30.
Amber Smith led Plaquemine with a game-high 23 points including two 3-pointers. Jimara Russ added 13 and Kiffani Young and Darlyneice Tillman each two.
Honchea Thornton led Broadmoor with 15 points. Mikayla Crockett added 14 including four 3-pointers, Jasmine Foster nine and Erica Teschke and Shantrell Lumar each eight.
Plaquemine build a 21-15 halftime lead over Istrouma after going into the second quarter tied 8-8 and extended it to 34-26 heading into the fourth.
Smith had a game-high 25 points including two 3-pointers. Russ added 17, O'Neisha Batiste six, Young three and Jernasha Collins and Tatyanna Jones each two.
Kenyatta Carter led the Lady Indians with 14 points. Ebony Dorizan and Morgan Johnson each added nine.
