East Iberville High School defeated Ascension Catholic 59-53 on Monday night and Ascension Christian 69-22 on Friday night in District 9-1A play to remain in control of second-place in league standings.
The Lady Tigers (15-13, 6-2), under coach Cormanda Grace-Green, are No. 13 in unofficial Class 1A power rankings. East Iberville traveled to St. John of Plaquemine on Tuesday and will head to White Castle on Friday night to decide second-place in the regular season finale. The Lady Tigers defeated White Castle (15-12, 6-2) 51-50 earlier in the season.
East Iberville led 13-12 heading into the second quarter and 30-28 at the half before taking a 43-39 lead into the fourth against Ascension Catholic.
Jasmine Mosby led the Lady Tigers with 22 points. Ja'Laycia Mills added 16, Chelsea Green 10, Kirstein Oubre seven and Ariel Fuller and Kaitlyn Knight each two.
Jordynn Brown led the Lady Bulldogs with (11-15, 2-6) with 22 points. Kyra Jones added 14 and Megan Brooks 13.
The Lady Tigers led 12-6 going into the second quarter and 32-11 at the half before taking a 53-12 lead into the fourth over Ascension Christian.
Oubre led East Iberville with a game-high 16 points. Knight added 15, Chelsea Green 11, Mills nine, Mosby and Taylor Green each four, Fuller and Lacour each three and Marlana Stewart and Kaitlyn Purpera each two.
Chelsea Green had two 3-pointers and Oubre, Fuller, Mills, Knight and Lacour each one.
Ally Cambre had 10 to lead the Lions (8-12, 0-8). Sydney Sehon added five.
