PLAQUEMINE – Plaquemine head basketball coach Donald Ray Johnson announced recently that the Green Devils will host an alumni basketball game vs. White Castle on July 27 at COPAC.
"We are recognizing all standout players from both schools before the games," Johnson said.
Johnson, a product of Plaquemine, is in his first season at the helm of the program. White Castle head coach Troy Green is also a product of White Castle and enters his second season with the Bulldogs. Both are expected to play.
The event will consist of five different games with two 12 minute halves.
"This game means a lot to the community," Johnson said. "I know all of the players that will be attending the game. It's our way of giving back and keeping that basketball spirit of Plaquemine and White Castle alive. These two towns love basketball and the two programs has been traditionally successful for many years."
Johnson said it is not the first alumni game but the first of this magnitude with players from the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
"Hopefully, this is something that we can keep going," Johnson said.
