PLAQUEMINE – The Friends of the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site will host several groups singing Christmas carols at the site located at 57730 Main St. on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6-8 p.m.

Groups participating include the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Choir, First Baptist Church Choir, Math, Science and Arts Academy and the We Are the Difference, Iberville Community Theatre Group.

“This is the first time we are doing this,” Friends’ President Joyce Hebert said. “It is a new project and would be a nice thing to do every year. Everybody seems interested and we hope to keep it going. We are just trying to get more local people to come visit. We get a lot of kids from schools but want to bring in more adults.”

Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
