PORT ALLEN - This year marks the 10th Anniversary for the Annual Kite Fest Louisiane`.
The festival has grown from its inaugural year of 2,500 attendees to over 20,000 in 2013 and the first-ever student day had 250 school children but now hosts on average between 2,500 and 3,000 students.
Kite Fest Louisiane` won the 2011 Festival of the Year award and in 2012, West Baton Rouge Parish was declared the “Kite Capital of Louisiana.”
American Gateway Bank is sponsoring the10th Anniversary special Poster Contest. A $250 prize will be awarded to the winning design. The winning entree will be designed into a poster, signed and dated and will be available at Kite Fest.
Fly teams from all over the United States are coming once again to perform for the crowds. Kites of all sizes and shapes will fill the skies above the soccer complex on Rosedale Road.
There also will be plenty of Louisiana food and beverage, kite and T-Shirts vendors.
The festival is from noon – 6 p.m. April 5-6.
