The annual St. Jude Car Show sponsored by the City of Plaquemine, Plaquemine Main Street Program and the Baton Rouge Corvette Club was held Saturday, April 29 at the Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park.
Proceeds from vehicle registration at this event benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This annual gathering features hundreds of various unique cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs old and new from Texas, Arkansas and many cities in Louisiana. Attendees were able to participate in valve cover racing, and silent and live auctions.
“We want to thank those who donated to and participated in last year’s show,” Patti Hatheway, BR Corvette Club representative said. “The record amount of $75,000 was donated to St. Jude in 2016.
“Through the hard work of our club volunteers and with the generosity of the public and our sponsors, we have been able to collectively raise nearly $500,000 for the children of St. Jude since the inception of this event in 1998. We look forward each year to improving the total donations.”
According to Hatheway, the BR Corvette Club ranks first with the largest total donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of all car club in the United States.
The club has not yet tallied the amount collected this year by press time, but they expect the amount to exceed the 2016 collection.
