A Maringouin man is suspected of having committed suicide after he was struck by an ongoing train at the railroad tracks’ intersection of Landry Street, according to Chief Hosea Anderson.
The 43-year-old man, who the Post South will not identify, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical technicians with Acadian Ambulance. .
“We got a call at about 10:50 on that Sunday (Nov. 4) about a subject being hit by a train at the Landry Street crossing,” Anderson said.
“When officers and deputies arrived, ,they noticed a black male lying on the west side of the track,” he continued. “He was not moving. They checked for a pulse and he had none.”
“The video from the train was reviewed and it showed what we think is probably a suicide because he was seen looking up at the train while he was standing on one of the tracks the train was on,,” Anderson said.
“The train had its horn blowing and the man did not move,” he said, and was struck and killed by the northbound train.
