Over 250 students, teachers and parents attended the Industries on Bayou Plaquemine School Day yesterday at the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site Nov. 22. Students from Iberville Elementary, Crescent Elementary and MSA-West learned from demonstrators about the many industries that were located on Bayou Plaquemine early last century. Some of the industries discussed were cypress logging, cattle, groceries, bricks, barrel and syrup making, the Nadler Putt Putt Motor and shipyards.
