27th Annual MLK March in Maringouin Jan. 18
MARINGOUIN – The 27th Annual Martin Luther King March and Program will be held Saturday, Jan. 18.
The march begins at 10 a.m. at Bayou Maringouin and Landry Street and ends at the Catholic Center.
The program is scheduled for 10:40 a.m. at the center.
Refreshments will be served following the program and the event is sponsored by the Knights and Ladies of St. Peter Claver.
The keynote speaker is Joseph "Bo" Stewart, a native of Maringouin. Stewart was an executive officer of Kellogg Company for more than 20 years and retired from the company as senior vice president of corporate affairs and chief ethics officer.
Stewart received a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition from Southern University in Baton Rouge and was awarded an honorary doctorate of science degree from Southern and an honorary doctorate degree of public service from Albion College.
He is co-founder and chief executive officer of Stewart Industries, LLC, an automotive sub-assembly manufacturing business specializing in the assembly of small component parts for major automotive manufacturers.
Stewart is also trustee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the U.S., with assets close to $6 billion.
