DONALDSONVILLE - The newest addition to the burgeoning business scene in the City of Donaldsonville's historic district comes from a homegrown culinary artist who is only 28 years old.

Yasmine Jones, known to locals as Chef Yaz, recently opened A Chef's Touch Café as part of her lifelong dream to become a restaurateur.

A customer appreciation will take place Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and will include food and beverage tastings.

A Chef's Touch Cafe is a casual dining restaurant that features traditional favorites like juicy bacon cheddar burgers, tender and spicy ribs, freshly made shrimp po-boys and Chef Yaz's signature dish Caribbean Shrimp Salad.

Jones developed a passion for cooking at an early age and has been cooking professionally for over a decade. She began culinary training at Louisiana Culinary Institute and honed her skills everywhere from fine dining establishments like the famed Nottoway Plantation to local fast food chains.

She has utilized that same enthusiasm in her newest venture A Chef's Touch Café where she says pride and passion are the main ingredients.
