BESE accepting grant proposals through Feb. 17

BATON ROUGE - The application period for Louisiana schools, school districts and other entities to apply for P-12 education project funding under the state's 8(g) Competitive Grant Program has been extended.

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will be accepting proposals for grant funding until Feb. 17 - extending the original deadline by two weeks - and will approve projects for funding by April 30.

The purpose of the Competitive Grant Program is to encourage the development of innovative efforts that raise and support student achievement in Louisiana.

Approximately $1.7 million has been allocated to the competitive program by BESE for the 2014-15 fiscal year.

Proposals may be submitted by individual public and nonpublic schools, school districts, state agencies and other entities and should be submitted via email to the BESE office at Proposals must be received by BESE no later than 4:30 pm on Monday, February 17.
