BRCC Westside Campus enrolling for welding, pipefitting classes

PLAQUEMINE – Baton Rouge Community College's Westside Campus is currently enrolling students for classes offering welding and pipefitting training.

The AWS Welding Training will take place at Plaquemine High School on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Feb. 22 – July 19.

Trainees will learn fundamental skill sets needed to show mastery in AWS welding applications and will be exposed to stick welding, mig and tig based on their ability level.

Those who show mastery in required skill sets will be referred to weld testing labs for AWS certifications. Classes will primarily hands-on lab training with some classroom and cost is $550.

The NCCER Pipefitting Level I Course will be held Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The course is 120 hours and utilizes the construction industry designed National Center for Construction Education and Research curricula for Pipefitting Level One.

Students will learn various topics such as trade tools, oxyfuel cutting, ladders and scaffolds and pipefitting power and hand tools. Classes will utilize classroom and hands-on training and the $200 cost includes textbooks.
