ADDIS - The Dow Westside YMCA is launching its annual campaign this week to ensure that everyone in the West Baton Rouge community has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Every day, the YMCA of the Capital Area works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, drowning prevention and childhood obesity.

Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for the Y to give over $750,000 in financial assistance toward Y programs and ensured that no one was turned away.

Although the vast majority of the Y recipients are kids who come for child-care, camps, sports, swimming lessons and after-school programs, the Y also provides assistance to adults and seniors for overall health and well-being programs.
