BATON ROUGE - Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne recently announced a major tourism achievement for Louisiana - accreditation from Destination Marketing Association International.

Louisiana is only the second state in the U.S. to meet the rigorous standards required to attain the international tourism industry's highest mark.

The achievement signifies DMAI's seal of approval for Dardenne's tourism strategies and the Pick Your Passion brand.

The accreditation is one of several accomplishments Dardenne has overseen since he conceived of the Pick Your Passion brand in 2010, including the Southeast Tourism Society's 2013 State Tourism Office of the Year.

The demanding DMAI accreditation process measures a broad spectrum of areas, including oversight, financial stability, marketing and emergency preparedness. More information about the process, including accreditation metrics and standards, can be found on the DMAI website.
