MSA-West hosts Diversity Day Feb. 28

PLAQUEMINE - The Math, Science, and Arts Academy West has expanded its educational programming during February’s Black History Month to celebrate a broader spectrum on equality.

Called Diversity Day, the event is school-wide on Friday, Feb. 28 from 7:40 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.

Music students will be performing jazz and African American spirituals and the choir will be singing various minority themed songs.

Theater students will be performing various monologues and interpretative readings from popular minority figures.

Dance students have created and will perform to a diverse range of multi-cultural songs.

Art will also be displayed with student work of famous figures, African masks, Native American pottery and Chinese zodiac figures.

Some of the elementary students will be displaying their projects on minority men and women in history and the eighth-grade English classes have developed written works in various genres on equality and diversity.
