Iberville Parish Library sponsoring reading programs

PLAQUEMINE - The Iberville Parish Library will sponsor “Read Aloud” programs to promote READ ACROSS AMERICA.
This is a national celebration of reading to honor the early March birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.
At the Main Library in Plaquemine, families are invited to bring their kids to a Bed-time Read Aloud at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 6.
Kids can come dressed up as Dr. Seuss characters or come in their pajamas with their favorite pillows.
The program will feature Dr. Seuss books read by local figures such as teachers and public officials. There will be color sheets for the kids to color, and refreshments of cookies and “Seuss juice.”
The White Castle Library will present a “Read Aloud” program featuring local readers and a Dr. Seuss Birthday reception with cookies and “Seuss juice” on Wednesday, March 5 at 5 p.m.
The other branch libraries across the parish will have similar Dr. Seuss events after school during the first week of March. Please contact your local librarian for details.
Research shows that when children read outside of school they do better in school.
