The Iberville Math, Science, and Arts Academy-West Junior Varsity Dance Team finished its competition season on Feb. 22 by being selected American All-Star Junior High National Champion. The group also earned second-place trophies in the Solo, Duet and Kick categories and a first-place trophy in the Pom category. The competition was held at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. Prior to national competition, the team also competed in a charity competition called Kickin’ it for Kids, where they won first-place for their kick dance and pom dance. “We’ve been blessed with an incredibly talented, hard working, well rounded group of dancers,” coach Loren McIntyre said. “Words cannot express how proud I am. Not only did they give the performance of a lifetime, but they conducted themselves with grace and dignity. This honor is well-deserved.” Dance team members include Ariel Brumfield, Andi Gurney, Cassidy Blanchard, Chassity Washington, Ciara Spriggs, Jessi Carline, Joshlyn Allen, Madison Cook, Lakyn Morales and Zoie Spears.
