BATON ROUGE - The LSU Museum of Art and West Baton Rouge Museum are partnering to present “Rise Up and Follow” Great Migration Tour and Lunch, Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The event begins at the West Baton Rouge Museum with tours and transportation to LSU Museum of Art. Participants will meet at the West Baton Rouge Museum to become immersed in a history that starts before the Great Migration Movement to hear soulful stories that span from slavery to Civil Rights.

Visit mid-19th and 20th century plantation dwellings, a mercantile store, and a mule barn to walk in the footsteps of those who struggled with the decision to stay or rise up and go north to face the unknown with hopes of a better life.

Then, participants will travel by bus to and from the LSU Museum of Art for a box lunch provided by Capital City Grill and a guided tour of the exhibit, The Visual Blues.

Explore the rich interaction that took place between Harlem Renaissance artists and the wealth of blues and jazz music emanating from the Deep South and moved north.

To make reservations, visit the LSU Museum of Art at 100 Lafayette Street in Baton Rouge or at www.lsumoa.org.
