BATON ROUGE – Governor Bobby Jindal recently issued a statement following the release of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Regional and State Employment and Unemployment Summary.

The summary reported that the number of people employed in Louisiana’s civilian labor force reached another record high, exceeding two million for the first time in Louisiana history.

The report also highlighted that Louisiana’s unemployment rate remained 4.5 percent, best in the 17-state southern region.

“This is another indication that Louisiana’s economy is growing at a remarkable rate,” Jindal said. “Because of all we have done to make Louisiana a great place to do business, we have now set another record for the number of people working.

“Louisiana now has more jobs, more people, and higher incomes than any point in our state's history and our future is bright.”
