PLAQUEMINE - A major player in the Iberville Parish drug trade was arrested Thursday after a search warrant was executed, according to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi.

Todd Smith, 40, 78235 Wheelock Lane, Maringouin, was arrested upon execution of the search warrant with intent to distribute crack cocaine in excess of 28 grams.

“He has an extensive criminal record for drug arrests dating back to the ‘90’s,” Stassi said.

The Law Enforcement Against Drug Task Force executed the warrant which unveiled more than $30,000 and two ounces of crack cocaine.

Authorities also seized a BMW 745i and a Dodge Charger.

Stassi said Smith is a long- time, key player in the parish’s drug trade.

“Let this be a warning,” Stassi said. “If you continue to sell drugs in Iberville Parish, this too will be your fate. We are watching and you will be arrested. We will bring all drug dealers to justice.”
