Samuel Johnson Jr., a Plaquemine native and 1963 graduate of Iberville High School, had the Performing Arts Center in San Bruno, Calif. dedicated in his honor on Nov. 16. Johnson was a former principal at Capuchino High School and spent nearly his entire career in education in the school district. Johnson was appointed as Superintendent of the San Mateo Union High School District where his leadership resulted in students performing better than at any other time in the district’s rich history. A reception and tour of the facility was held immediately following the dedication. Johnson is married to the former Della Bouligny of New Roads.
