BATON ROUGE - A proposal to build a new bridge across the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge that could reduce interstate traffic congestion in the city has received support so far from the Louisiana Legislature.

However, the earliest a feasibility study of the project could take place is Aug. 2015.

A resolution requesting the study, sponsored by Rep. Karen St. Germain, D-Plaquemine, was approved unanimously both in the Senate and House.

Possible locations for the bridge are between Brusly and Addis, south of Addis and between Plaquemine and St. Gabriel.

A new bridge would come with a $800 million price tag.
