St. Gabriel native achieves success in booming NOLA bar scene
It’s Carnival season in New Orleans and one St. Gabriel man is cashing in on the revelry. Joseph Allen is not only a young entrepreneur, he happens to also own his business in what is one of New Orleans' hotspots for business development and growth, the Tulane Avenue Corridor.
Allen credits his home town for nurturing the high level of hospitality he practices daily while operating his business.
After several failed attempts to find long-term employment Allen, 33, got his start in the bar business at an entry level serving as a 'bar back' in the city's bustling French Quarter. He quickly rose to the position of bartender. Allen's friendly personality became a draw for a new base of customers; helping to launch the start-up bar to the next level.
Years later, when the opportunity to enter into partnership as co-owner of an up and coming bar on Tulane Avenue was available, Allen didn't hesitate. It would become a life-changing decision. In short order, Allen became the sole owner of Three Palms Bar & Grill. It is located on Tulane Avenue, just blocks away from the new University Medical Center.
Allen's venture has rapidly taken off, and he's made it his business to serve the city he loves. Just recently he honored the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by serving one of MLK's favorite meals free to government workers affected by the partial shutdown. He also delivers hot meals feeding the homeless living under area bridges and overpasses. As a youth mentor, Allen shares his success story with at risk teenagers. These are examples of how Allen and staffers at Three Palms have complimented the city's prominent hospitality industry.
