Local music educator has major impact

Dr. Michael Berthelot owner of Rockin Mozart Academy and Music Director at MSA West is having a major influence on local education in both West Baton Rouge and Iberville Parish.

With two locations, Port Allen and Plaquemine, and over 180 students and 15 employees, Rockin Mozart Academy is impacting local education for all ages.

As an educator, Dr. Berthelot was awarded MSA West middle school teacher of the year 2018-2019.

Also, under his direction the MSA Instrumental programs won many competitions both locally and nationally in 2019. At LMEA District Festival the MSA West Full Orchestra received a Sweepstakes trophy, the highest honor given to a performing group.

Then MSA West traveled to Festival Disney in Orlando, Florida and received multiple awards: In the category of Concert Band, they received a Superior Rating, Best in Class, and 3rd overall. In the Strings Category they received 3rd overall and a Superior Rating in Full Orchestra.

Rockin Mozart is now partnering with the West Baton Rouge Museum to create a free blues program for WBRP 6th , and 7th graders in 2019-2020 school year.
