How long have Sarasota arts leaders held their jobs?
The leadership of arts organizations changes hands over time, but in the Sarasota area, many artistic and executive directors have held their jobs for 10 or more years. Here is a select list of longtime arts leaders in the region.

Linda DiGabriele, managing director of Asolo Repertory Theatre since 1994, has held numerous posts at the theater since joining the staff in 1973.
Murray Chase, producing executive director (formerly artistic director) of Venice Theatre since 1996
Nate Jacobs, founder and artistic director of Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe since 1999
William J. Barbanera, music director of Sarasota Concert Band since 1997
Pedro Reis and Dolly Jacobs, founder of what is now the Circus Arts Conservatory in 1997.
Joseph McKenna, president and CEO of Sarasota Orchestra, joined the organization as executive director in 2001.
Michael Donald Edwards, producing artistic director of Asolo Repertory Theatre since 2006
Rick Kerby, artistic director of the Manatee Players since 2003
Greg Leaming, director of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory since 2004
Leymis Bolaños Wilmott, who co-founded (with Rachael Inman) what became Sarasota Contemporary Dance in 2006
Jeffery Kin, artistic director of the Players Centre for Performing Arts since 2007, will have helmed the organization for 15 years when he steps down in 2022.
Rebecca Hopkins has been managing director of Florida Studio Theatre since 2003. She joined the theater staff in 1998.
Iain Webb, director of The Sarasota Ballet since 2007. His predecessor, Robert de Warren, led the company for 13 years.
Margaret Barbieri has been Assistant Director of The Sarasota Ballet, since 2011.
Steven High has served as executive director since 2011
Mary Bensel, executive director of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall since 2007.
Joseph Caulkins, artistic director of Key Chorale since 2007.
Denise Kowal founded the Chalk Festival (or Avenida de Colores) in 2007.
Ariel Serrano and Wilmian Hernandez founded the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School in 2011.
Mark Famiglio has served as president of the Sarasota Film Festival since 2008.
