Iberville Parish librarians present cards to PHS students

Iberville Parish librarians recently presented library cards to 8th grade students at Plaquemine High School. They are from left, front, Chancy Northern, Darion Young, Miracle Galmon and Jermain Spriggs. Middle, Jamanie Fernandez, Anna Leblanc, Cassidy Shaw, Kian'jza Simmons and Nicholas Williams. Iberville Parish librarians Laura Stewart and Elizabeth Haynes recently visited Plaquemine High School's library to issue electronic library cards to 8th grade students.

With these cards, students will be able to access the parish and state library electronic databases to conduct research from home or any computer with Internet access.

Stewart demonstrated how to use the databases and explained the significance of using creditable resources when locating information. She also explained the difference between a

website and a databases and why students should be cautious when using information from the Internet.

Haynes and Stewart have more visits scheduled to speak to other classes about this topic.
