Early voting starts Saturday

Staff reports

Early voting in the October 22 primary elections begins from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (October 8) at the Iberville Registrar of Voters Office on the second floor of the Courthouse.

“I think Saturday will be record-breaking,” Registrar Melissa S. Bourgoyne said.

The primary ballot features hotly contested races for lieutenant governor's race and Iberville Parish sheriff, plus the races for parish president tax assessor and 11 Iberville Parish council seats. Five proposed constitutional amendments also will be on the ballot.

Early voting will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Monday through Saturday, October 10-15.

Bourgoyne urges voters to have a picture ID or other forms of identification in hand to help the lines go faster.
