More than 200 people turned out Saturday for the City of Plaquemine's Children's Christmas Festival and Parade, Mayor Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta said Monday.

“The weather kind of put a little damper on it, and the football game put a big damper on it,” he said. “When we were picking a date, we just didn't think about it. We will definitely improve on it next year.”

The Plaquemine Main Street Program and the organization We Are the Difference sponsored the event at Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park. The parade went through the new park pavilion, its first use before it opens officially next year.
