WHITE CASTLE - The Plaquemine Garden Club celebrated its traditional Christmas Tea and Flower Show on Dec. 7, at the River Road country home of Madeline Kessler in White Castle.

The early Louisiana raised cottage style home was transformed into authentic French Creole Christmastime enchantment. Stepping back into Christmas past, the theme recreated by-gone era along historic River Road when sugar reigned supreme.

The cottage imbued with traditional Christmas trimmings throughout evoked seasonal holiday flair--candlelight, red poinsettia and fresh cedar garlands galore. Scent of evergreen mixed with cinnamon and crystallized brown sugar filled the air. Soft strains of piano floated from the back veranda provided by Jimmy Ramirez, framing the backdrop for Christmas caroling and gay merriment.

Creating the abundance of fragrant floral designs were the following club members: Marian Medine, Sheryl Ramirez, Patsy Williams, Jackie Carville, Bute Richard, Marvo Legendre, Betty M. LaBauve, Paula Alexander, Janis Brown, Lucinda Johnson, Carol Anne Marionneaux, Linda Panepinto, Gwendolyn Gum, Rosamond Nicolosi, Nancy Delahaye, Travis Campesi, Mary Jo Hymel, Ramona Perrin, Patty Phillips, Peggy Alonzo, Jeanne Panepinto, Julie Hebert, Joyce B. Hebert, Verlee Guilbeau, Barbara Breaux, Gail LeJeune, Betty Blanchard, Joyce S. Hebert, Shirley Blanchard, Katherine Desselles, Sandra Landry, Denise Miranda, Lucille Distefano, Jeannine Dunn, Emily Wilbert, Rita Lynn Jackson and Gayle Schwing.

Registering guests were Lou Anna Canella, Lucille Distefano and Charlene Bishop.

A "good time" was enjoyed by all.
